If we were having coffee, I’d definitely have my mini in tow. Don’s work-load is picking up, so our situation usually includes him staying home with the boys during their nap so he has quiet to do his work, while Elizabeth tags along with me. We pack her little puppy backpack with activities, so I’d buy her a doughnut and probably an apple juice and she’d be a happy girl.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my blog has been being neglected lately. Elizabeth is no longer napping, and the boys have become a lot more mobile which means they’re getting into a lot of things, so there isn’t much free time to sit down and work. Henry’s new favorite activity is climbing everything, so if I turn my head for more than a few minutes, he ends up on top of something!
If we were having coffee, I’d humble brag that I hit my pre-pregnancy weight and I’m really proud. I gave myself a lot of grace to lose the weight, but had ultimately hoped it would be before their first birthday, and it was! My next goal is to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight from Elizabeth. I still have about 12 pounds to go until I’m there. It’s a little bit of a vanity thing, but I also know that every pound I lose will make me faster in the pool, on the bike, and in my run.
If we were having coffee, I’d admit that I’m loving the New England winter. We bought Elizabeth the cutest little snowshoes and enjoy getting out as a family. I do miss being able to head out without having to wrap everybody up in all the winter gear (some days it takes up to 40 minutes to get ready), but I know that will come soon enough, so we are soaking in the snow fun. We have had several days of indoor play because of the snow/cold, but it makes me even more excited for next year when the boys will be able to participate in the fun and not be stuck in a stroller or backpack.
If we were having coffee, Elizabeth would probably interrupt to tell you a story from pre-school. She started going two days a week in January and is absolutely loving it. Her first two weeks she cried every day because she didn’t want to go home and leave her friends. I love that she is getting that opportunity to be social with other kids and adults and she is absolutely thriving. When she’s not at school, I’ve been attempting to do more learning activities with her. Pinterest for the win (well, most of the time)
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that Don and I went on a super-fun date night last month. We went bouldering at a local climbing gym. We used to do fun things like that all the time, but lately our date-night default has been dinner. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s fun to do something unique that gets us moving versus sitting and eating. If you live in the Boston area, I’d love recommendations for other fun activities.
If we were having coffee, we would probably have to cut it short because a toddler’s attention span is only so long. She would probably call me “Miss Mommy” while we are getting ready to go. She has heard our neighbor kids call me Miss Katie and she was calling me that for a while until I reminded her that I’m “mommy”. So Miss Mommy it is. And sometimes Don is “Miss Daddy”. It’s adorable and I love this stage she is in, she says the funniest things!
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
