Whole 30: Days 28, 29, 30

Day 28

Today was better than the previous days have been – maybe because the light at the end of the tunnel is blazing so brightly!  I felt a lot better than I have the past few days and repeated meals that I liked (no eggs for breakfast = win!).  I’m still kind of sick of eggs and chicken sausage for breakfast, but planning lunch and dinner options doesn’t frustrate me as much.

I’ve found that staying busy is the best way to follow the Whole30 program.  We spent a lot of time outside of the house which keeps me from just mindlessly eating the things in the kitchen.

Breakfast: sauteed bell peppers and onions with chicken sausage and avocado
Lunch: random salad – romaine and spinach, turkey, hard-boiled egg, carrots and broccoli
Dinner: pork carnitas

Day 29

The boys woke up at 4:45 this morning and I wasn’t even mad about it!  Despite it being early, I didn’t feel tired and actually got quite a few things done before Don and Elizabeth got up at 7.  It may not feel like Tiger Blood, but I’ll take it!

I complained last recap about feeling super crappy on my run, and a few people reached out to tell me that was normal which made me feel a lot better.  I did another 2 mile run today, but ate a sweet potato about 30 minutes before I went out and that seemed to help a lot.

I’m still totally ready to be done with the Whole30, but also apprehensive about going back to “regular” eating again.  I’m not so much nervous about having no will-power (since I know I can say “NO”), but I’ve read a lot of forums about reintroduction and people realizing that they had intolerance to dairy AND gluten AND other foods after completing Whole30.  I could probably survive without gluten, but having a dairy intolerance would be devastating.  (Yes, I’m possibly being dramatic, but as a born and raised Wisconsin girl, I don’t know what I’d do)

Breakfast: sauteed bell peppers and onions with chicken sausage and avocado
Lunch: turkey wrapped in romaine lettuce with guacamole
Dinner: leftover pork carnitas

Best running buddies – and probably the cutest too!

Day 30

I feel like Annie “tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow, you’re only a day away”!  (Does that make me sound like a diva?)  But seriously, I’m so excited to be on day 30 of the Whole30!  Today was just a lot of easy choices to finish strong – not trying to reinvent the wheel.

I also made a tentative schedule for re-introduction that differs a bit from what Whole30 suggests.  Don has tomorrow and Friday off from class, so we are heading up to Vermont to do some exploring – and to visit the Ben and Jerry’s factory – so obviously I’m doing to do the reintroduction of dairy first, yay!  I plan on writing a post about my re-introduction once it’s over with, so stay tuned!

Thank you to all of you who read along, posted encouragement, and gave me some tips – staying accountable on this blog is really what got me through this whole thing.  I mean, who wants to put on the internet that they gave up?  Not me!

Breakfast: chicken sausage with guacamole
Lunch: salad with lots of veggies, hardboiled egg and chicken
Dinner: leftover asian sesame kebabs with riced cauliflower
