mom life

Perspective

I had a couple drafts that I planned on completing over the weekend so that I’d have some posts for the week, but they all got put on hold when my friend’s son went in for open heart surgery on Friday.  Unfortunately, the procedure didn’t go as planned and we spent all weekend waiting for updates on his condition.  On Monday morning he suffered a massive stroke and passed away.  The news was devastating, and I can’t even imagine how heart broken my sweet friend and her family are.

Kent was only 4 months old – a month older than the twins, and all I could think about was how it would feel to lose one of them.  No mother should ever have to go what she has gone through, and she has been so incredibly brave and transparent through all of this.

So while my heart is heavy and mourning with the family, blogging has obviously taken a backseat.  After dropping Elizabeth off at daycare Monday and Tuesday mornings, I just came home and cuddled my boys.  I spent extra time cuddling them while they slept and playing with them while they were awake instead of letting them hang out in their bouncers while I worked.  And when E has been home with us, we’ve been soaking up time playing together.  Life is so precious and writing a blog post is not worth losing time with my sweet boys.

Please keep Kent’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they travel back to their hometown to bury their son.  If you’re on Facebook, you can visit their page here and read all the updates for yourself.

  1. This touched my heart and now I’m crying. My biggest fear is losing my daughter. After my mom passed away unexpectedly, I realized how unpredictable life is. I’m so sorry to hear of your friend’s loss. No parent should ever have to experience the loss of a child.

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I agree, life is so unpredictable, and while we can’t live in fear, it’s still hard not to think about that happening.
